Knee brace and knee sleeve to treat Bursitis:

A Knee sleeve with compression helps to relieve knee Bursitis swelling and pain. Bursitis knee brace provides also an additional stability to the swollen knee. To avoid a Bursitis, it can also be used for prevention only.

What is a knee Bursitis?

Each knee has a number of bursa or fluid sac. Depending on its position within the knee, a bursa plays the role of cushion between skin and muscles, or between leg bones and knee tendons. The most well-known knee bursae are:

• Prepatellar bursa: is located in front of patella, just under the skin.
• Infrapatellar bursa: they are two bursae, one located below patella and the other one between the Tibia and patella tendon.
• Suprapatellar bursa:is located above the kneecap, near quadriceps tendon.

What is a Bursitis? a knee Bursitis is an inflammation in of one of the above Bursae. The most common is the Prepatellar Bursitis or housemaid’s knee.

How a knee Bursitis would happen? Prepatellar Bursitis occurs from a repetitive kneeling.

Symptoms:

Most common knee Bursitis symptoms are: knee swelling in the area where the swollen bursa is located, knee pain and heating.

Treatment:

For mild to Moderate knee Bursitis, you may apply ice directly on inflammation and use compression knee sleeves to reduce swelling. For chronic Bursitis, a surgery with a post-op rehabilitation may be needed. In this case, you may need to wear a knee brace during recovery.
