What is a fractured ankle?

A fractured ankle involves a fracture of one or multiple ankle bones. An ankle joint is supported by three surrounding bones: the Tibia, the Fibula and the Talus. Not every ankle fracture has the same severity grade or type. A broken ankle would involve a partial or complete bone fracture. In some cases, it can be followed by an ankle sprain or other ligament damage.
